Eid ul-Fitr, the joyous festival marking the end of Ramadan, is celebrated with great enthusiasm and is a time for community, charity, and joy. This year, Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated on April 11, in India², while some countries observed it a day earlier based on the moon sighting³.
The significance of Eid ul-Fitr lies in its marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims. It is a time to come together with family and friends, to share in the joy of having completed a month of blessings and to show gratitude for the strength given to complete the fast. It's also a time for giving, known as Zakat al-Fitr, where Muslims give to those in need, ensuring that they too can celebrate the festival
Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated with special prayers called Salat al-Eid, feasting, giving gifts, and dressing in new clothes. It's a time when forgiveness is sought and granted, and the community bonds are strengthened
In the crescent moon's gentle light, A month of reflection takes its flight. The dawn of Eid ul-Fitr breaks, A symphony of joy it awakes.
Families gather in homes and streets, Embracing each other with warm greets. Children laugh, their spirits soar, As they don their new clothes, adored.
The prayers rise in the early morn, Gratitude for the fast is born. Hands raised, hearts pure and clear, Thanking Allah for being near.
The tables laden with sweet delights, Savory dishes, and appetizing bites. A feast for all, rich and poor, Unity and love at the core.
Gifts exchanged, smiles wide, Generosity cannot hide. Zakat al-Fitr given with care, Ensuring all have their share.
Eid ul-Fitr, a time to reflect, On patience, piety, and respect. A festival of breaking the fast, A cherished moment, held fast.
So let's celebrate this day of bliss, With a prayer, a hug, and a kiss. For Eid ul-Fitr brings us together, In a bond that will last forever.
